Reliable UPI alerts: battery & notification settings

If voice alerts stop during busy hours, Android is often “helping” by sleeping the app. Here’s what to change.

PayEcho reads payment notifications and speaks the amount. If notifications are delayed or blocked, the soundbox goes quiet — even when UPI money arrived.

1. Give notification access

Open PayEcho and allow notification access (or Notification listener). Without it, the app cannot see GPay / PhonePe / Paytm payment toasts.

2. Turn off battery optimization for PayEcho

  1. Android Settings → Apps → PayEcho → Battery
  2. Choose Unrestricted / Don’t optimize (wording varies by brand)
  3. On Xiaomi / Oppo / Vivo / Realme: also allow autostart / background activity if shown

3. Keep volume up for media / notifications

Some phones route TTS (spoken voice) through media volume. Keep media volume high during shop hours.

4. Don’t force-stop or lock-kill the app

Recent-apps “lock” can help on aggressive OEMs. Avoid Force Stop from settings.

5. Quick test

Send yourself ₹1 via UPI while packing a bag. You should hear the amount. If not, re-check permission and battery.

Kirana tip: Counter pe phone charging + speaker outside pocket = clearest alerts. Guide: Kirana UPI alert.
